A Swan's Haiku

Swans3In the light she sitscelestial starlight ablazeAngelic Lilly

I love swans. They somehow manage to elicit the ethereal, graceful, and magical all at once. They are indeed my favorite bird, and play a symbolic roll in the novel I've been working on.They seem so delicate and precious too...So much so they make me wish I could cup one in my palms much like The Childlike Empress cradled that single grain of sand in The Neverending Story. *Sighs dreamily*I'm a blabbering whimsical mess tonight.  I'm off to go drown myself in a yogurt parfait. (As any self respecting adorer of the chimerical would do.)love & whimsy, nicōle

StarStorm

I was blow-drying my hair earlier, and this haiku came to me. I've been thinking about my manuscript currently under about two inches of dust (I'm speaking figuratively-it's happily dust free in three different places) and this sort of came to me...Yes, it is related to the story.

Christmas Haze

I don't want the Christmas haze to fade. I want the scattered toys to remain where they lay, to be picked up and played with at any given moment. For the magic that is Christmas to linger with us...The twinkle lights, merry carols, and anxious countdown of my children all lead up to my favorite part of the whole day. When on this early morning while snow gently fell I received the best gift a mom could get I got to see the joy and amazed expressions as they unwrapped their gifts.Unfortunately the Christmas haze has to fade. We've got so much to do before our move to Miami and six-teen days to do it. I've got so much I want to write and say before 2010 is behind us, but for now, I'll leave you with a photo from this Christmas and a little haiku.

On Thin Ice...Skates - Haiku

First go 'round on ice.Slipping. Sliding. Hold my hand. It's like learning to walk...

This weekend my family and I attended a birthday party for the daughter of a colleague of my husband's. It was at an ice-skating rink.

Michael hadn't ever been on ice skates...

What's going on in my head...Haiku

There they are floatinga flying, crashing, deluge.Ideas, passion. Words.

I just wrote this lovely little haiku in an attempt to express the desire I have had of late to create. To write. To craft. To learn new things. To explore. I've been banging my head against a wall (figuratively speaking of course) trying to decide what sorts of things I want to fill my etsy shop with (prim things). When it occurred to me that my need to create is really only my desire to write. To sit down, and actually write. Something I've not done in a while. Between getting our house ready to sell, the going about of selling it, the packing, the moving, the MOVING! We are finally settled in. Yes, there are a few boxes here and there that we really have no place for and a storage unit that is literally bursting at the seams but we're settled and I am feeling rejuvenated and inspired.

I'm going to let this deluge of creative desire wash over me. I'm going to enjoy it, savor it and spend a lot of time with my butt in this lovely comfy chair the hubs bought for my tush whose job it is to keep me comfortable while I go about sitting in it, with my hands unfolding over my keyboard; typing as fast as they can go in a storm of word vomit.
