Hi, I’m Nicóle—storyteller, dreamer, someone who finds magic in the little things. Welcome to Surfing A Daydream, the place where I get to share my favorite things: books, beauty, crafting, travel, and all the little joys that make life brighter.

I’m a journalist and photographer. I love telling people’s stories and capturing moments that matter. Whenever I get the opportunity —I’m crafting with my daughter Ellena, which basically turns our home into a glitter-fueled, confetti-covered wonderland.

Books and I have a deep, time-tested romance—shh, don’t tell my husband. They’ve been my constant companions, taking me on adventures, offering comfort, and sparking my imagination through every chapter of life. My husband, on the other hand, has been my partner in love, laughter, and over 20 years of a semi-nomadic life that included moving all over the map thanks to his Air Force career. We even spent four magical years in Italy, where I discovered my one true superpower: never getting lost on the Rome metro (seriously, it’s a gift). These days, we’ve settled in the Metro DC area- (where I get lost a lot,) but my Miami roots are still going strong, fueled by sunshine thanks to my 100 SPF sunscreen and café con leche.

My husband and I have been blessed with three awesome kids - my oldest two, appeared a lot in my original blog - but now that they’re older, and moving into adulthood the stuff I share about them here will likely be limited to snapshots and musings on mothering teens and young adults.

When I’m not working or loving on my three kids, you’ll find me curled up with a book, exploring old bookshops that smell like history and possibility, or indulging in my lifelong quest for the perfect slice of pizza (priorities, right?).
