Lauren Kate on "Passion"

Yesterday I dragged my good friend to Books and Books in Coral Gables to a book signing with author Lauren Kate who is touring to promote her latest novel in the Fallen series, Passion.

I was seriously trying not to geek out, but I always do when ever I get around books, technology, or people I admire. In this case it was a total double whammy for me. I promise you, my geeking out was way up there, way...way...WAY up there in the stratosphere!

Fallen Series, Passion

Lauren read some from Passion and then afterwards she answered some questions from the audience (I asked four!)

The first was in regards to world/lore building. I asked how she managed to stay organized and keep track of it all. She confessed that in her early work she wasn't especially organized, but with Fallen and the subsequent books she was very organized and outlined, so she always knew where she was headed. She was kind enough to recommend a book (the same one Alison Noel mentioned during her stint as a special guest on #YaLitChat the night before) titled, Save the Cat, by Drew Snyder.  As soon as I was threw with the book signing I went and sought it out. Unfortunately Books and Books didn't have it in stock, nor did Barnes & Noble down the street. I've ordered it from Amazon, and it should arrive next week, but I'm seriously fighting the urge not to buy the Kindle version to read it on my iPad.

My other questions were in relation to query letters (how many she sent), and other things. I love to pick author's brains, there is something really inspiring to see someone, who is much like you in many respects doing something you aspire to do.

It gives me hope.

If you've not read these books I highly suggest you do.

Love & Passion,
