Then & Now — Wuthering Heights
Have you ever heard a song that you used to listen to a lot when you were younger, thought it meant one thing, heard it today and it has a completely different meaning for you?
That happens to me with songs all the time. I also find myself picking up on things that my more naive self didn't yet know about.
I've been re-reading Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights for the past three weeks. I began my second read after watching the PBS Masterpiece Classics mini-series. It made me want know what I would think of this story now through adult eyes rather than those of my 14 year old self.
I usually can read a book in a day or two, but for some reason I'm finding that I can only read this story a bit at a time.
I'm at the point where Catherine is ill, and Heathcliff married her sister in law Isabella. As I suspected my perspective on these infamous characters, the location, and symbolism Emily Brontë used has changed. I'll post again discussing these two points of view once I've finished reading.
I merely wanted to comment that although I can still see the girl's persepective the woman's is more complete.
